The body of a man believed to be in his 30s washed up at Rocklands Beach in Sea Point earlier today (Thursday). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to law enforcement officials at the scene, the man, a foreign national, drowned.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayne Dyason, law enforcement spokesperson, says the public alerted law enforcement officers of a body floating in the water.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt looks like he drowned. No one saw him go in. No one came forward to say anyone was missing. No family members on the beach.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An inquest docket will be investigated by Sea Point police.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident brings to three the number of drownings at Rocklands Beach this week.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday 3 July, Munster Rugby coach Greig Oliver (58) died following a paragliding accident.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Sea Point mother was swept off the rocks on Tuesday 4 July.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paula Leech, National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Table Bay duty controller, says: \u201cIt appears that the female was walking on rocks on the shoreline when it appeared that she may have been swept into the ocean by a wave.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 59-year-old mother died in hospital on Wednesday 5 July, with her family at her side.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NSRI is appealing to the public to take heed of the full moon Spring tide that causes higher-than-normal high tides and lower-than-normal low tides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leech says: \u201cDuring winter months storm sea conditions can increase shoreline risks during the full moon and new moon Spring tides. This full moon Spring will last into the next few days.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
