Cycling was initially not an interest 0f Jordan September\u2019s. But now the 18-year-old matric learner, who grew up in Ocean View, has been chosen to represent South Africa at the 2023 Junior World Track Champs in Colombia, South America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kinetic Pro Cycling team director O\u2019Ryan Bruintjies said the teen joined the club three years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJordan started his cycling journey with the Fresh Start Cycling Club in Ocean View back in 2019 and moved to Kinetic Cycling Club in 2020 under the watchful eyes of his coaches, Glen Bonthuys and Zarina van Schalkwyk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added it was clear from the start that September was \u201can above-average talent\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJordan joined the Kinetic Pro Cycling team in 2020 and since then has accomplished much, for instance, Western Province titles, Western Cape titles, South African national titles and African continental titles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow he is leaving to represent his country at the World Track Champs in Colombia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bruintjies describes Jordan, who currently lives in Sunnydale and attends Fish Hoek High School, as a true ambassador for the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe would like to thank all role-players in Jordan\u2019s development to the world stage of cycling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are super proud of all Jordan\u2019s achievements and we believe he will be a true ambassador for South Africa. A special thanks to his supportive parents, Anton and Tania September.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teenager said becoming a cyclist all happened by \u201ccoincidence\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI started cycling at a small development team in my hometown at the beginning of 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt all happened by coincidence. I was never fazed by cycling because we would see the other kids riding often, but it was never an interest of mine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy brother wanted to give it a try so he dragged me along and signed me up for it. Well, the rest is history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeing selected to represent South Africa at the Junior World Champs in Cali, Colombia, is a very proud moment for me because even though it\u2019s not my first time being selected for a national team it is always really special when it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
