A fire in the early hours of Saturday 5 August caused extensive damage to a mosque in Vrygrond, Capricorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Jermaine Carelse, the fire in Drury Road caused severe damage to the building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe City\u2019s Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at approximately 03:30 of a building fire in Drury Road, Vrygrond on Saturday 5 August. Crews from Lakeside were on the scene and confirmed it to be a mosque alight.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carelse said firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze by 04:20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe cause of the fire is still unknown.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, generous donations have since ensured the Masjid Hudaa would be repaired in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Masjid Love, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), thanked generous donors for helping raise funds to repair the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement the NGO pledged R50 000 towards building materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlhamdulilah<\/em> through the grace and blessings of the Almighty the amount required for the rebuilding and refurbishment of the Masjid has been achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cInsha\u2019allah<\/em> the project will start within the next couple of weeks and should be completed within three to four months.
