This is the name of an organisation, one that says it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a view to helping women who have been broken down by life, a new organisation aims to be the beacon of hope that helps break the cycle of listlessness and brokenness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ursula Peters, community worker in the Tafelsig area, said while conducting several projects under her other registered organisation, Mini Footsteps, she wanted to launch another that focused solely on upliftment \u2013 of the spirit, that is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want my non-profit organisation to grow on its own. I would like to have an established safety home in Tafelsig to host more children in need of safety and expand that even further to include a place of safety for women, even for a short while.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soup kitchens will also run from these premises in the hopes of creating a positive influence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat I plan and hope for is that it can make a huge difference in our community,\u201d said Peters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have a lot of broken women, and sometimes our women just need some shelter or a place of safety, where they can elicit advice, particularly of where to go, but they cannot trust anyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe live our own lives and all have our own burdens to carry, but it is not easy in today\u2019s world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A group known as the Golden Women will run the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Golden Ladies is a group of community workers established by Peters along with other women to make a difference in their respective communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It aims to care mainly for seniors and children <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Said Peters: \u201cThe name says it all. Sometimes we are broken in various sections of our lives and we feel we don\u2019t serve a purpose because this and that happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut we would like to say that even though that happened, or you lived though it you still have a purpose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEven though your life was torn apart you have value, and we are here to say to our young ladies and young men, children and seniors we all have value.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tafelsig community is plagued by substance abuse, gender-based violence, crime and gangsterism, all of which affect women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSometimes you will find people who are addicted to substances being labelled and called names,\u201d Peters said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHowever, God has placed everyone on this earth with a purpose; I strongly believe no-one was born a gangster, murderer or substance abuser.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organisation was launched on Saturday 26 August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Invited were various religious leaders and community workers. Among those attending were Ward 82 councillor Washiela Harris. Peters had a special word of thanks for her support through her many projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This organisation is governed by God\u2019s word, she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
