Author Bernadette Kiewiet hosted a book launch event at Mountview High School, returning to her alma mater for the first time since matriculating 44 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kiewiet was one of the first learners when the school opened in 1976. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her aim was to hand over a copy of her book, Life\u2019s Soiled Red Earth<\/span>, to the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Former classmates Fatima Lakay Hill and Lois Petersen shared their journey as former learners with the Grade 11 learners of the school, before Kiewiet read an excerpt from her book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The book is a romance, based on and inspired by true events of the apartheid-era. It took her around five years to complete, having travelled to the various areas for research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Kiewiet has hosted various launch events since May (\u201cAuthor sees apartheid through a different lens\u201d, People\u2019s Post<\/em>, 2 May).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The book is available in paperback at R285 and in eBook at R89 from Amazon, Goodreads, and the publisher, Austin
