In their quest to identify skeletal remains found between Ou Kaapse Weg and Peers Cave earlier this month, Fish Hoek police are awaiting a pathologist report to clarify \u201ckey points\u201d in the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police spokesperson WO Peter Middleton says all avenues are being investigated, including possibly matching the unidentified remains to cases of missing persons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wish to state we are investigating the matter as an inquest docket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are awaiting the pathologist report to clarify several key points so that we can investigate all other avenues relating to cases of missing persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe skeletal remains were found by a person clearing bushes relating to South African National Parks (SANParks) between the Ou Kaapse Weg and Peers Cave,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, on Monday 11 September, law enforcement officers were tipped off to a possibly stolen vehicle found in Muizenberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to JP Smith, the Mayco member for safety and security, neighbourhood watch members and private security guards identified the stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith the suspect returning to the vehicle, law enforcement responded and placed the occupant under arrest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe vehicle had been reported stolen earlier this month in Bellville.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate incident on Sunday 10 September, law enforcement officers on patrol in Wynberg observed a vehicle being driven recklessly and without lights only to discover that it had been hijacked in the Lansdowne area hours earlier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOfficers brought the vehicle to a stop and questioned the occupants but when further enquiries showed the occupants were unable to even identify the registered owner, officers grew wary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrivate security informed officers the vehicle had in fact been reported as hijacked in the Lansdowne area three hours earlier and was still in the process of being processed at the police station.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The occupants of the vehicle, a man and woman, were arrested and questioned by police who discovered the victim\u2019s phone in the possession of one of the suspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBoth suspects were detained for further investigation on charges of hijacking and possession of stolen property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
