Sewage leaks at the Law Enforcement office in Muizenberg were on the agenda at the Subcouncil 19 meeting held on Monday 18 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a tabled question, Muizenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF) secretary Heide Goodman asked whether any efforts were being made to address the sewage leaks that have reportedly been an issue at the law-enforcement building since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDating back to the time of the renovation of the Law Enforcement building, in 2018, significant leakage of sewage occurs in the area surrounding the building and at the entrance to the water-slide facility,\u201d she pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCountless C3s have been submitted to get remedial work done in the area, but not recently as it appears to be a futile exercise; verbal discussions and emails from residents have not seen the matter resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Goodman further raised concerns about the impact on the environment and law-enforcement officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cApart from the environmental concern of the run-off from the leakage directly into the canal and ocean, the impact on the working conditions of officers at the facility is significant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOften, the sewage-impacted water is ankle-deep and must be walked through to enter the facility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, Subcouncil 19 chair Aimee Kuhl said a site visit would be conducted to ascertain the health implications and impact on the facility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
