This is what led to Camps Bay High School top learner, Max van Deventer\u2019s 87.71% aggregate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The deputy head prefect aced his National Senior Certificate with flying colours scoring six distinctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Van Deventer explains that it took hard work and dedication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI listened actively in class and when it came to tests, I would revise all my work the night before. But a lot of the work was already entrenched because I did the work in class. If there is anything I was unsure of I would watch videos on YouTube about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI always made sure I understood the work when I was doing it in class. So that I would not have to prepare much for tests,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The teen was one of thousands of matriculants who learnt their fate when they received their matric results on Friday 19 January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Western Cape Class Of 2023 scored an 81.54% pass rate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Melissa Muller from Rhenish Girls\u2019 High School in Stellenbosch and Ethan Myers from Herzlia High School, Vredehoek (Independent school) was named the two top learners in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Van Deventer explains that he could not contain his smile on Friday because he also received news that he has been accepted to study Economics at the University of Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI did know I would pass but I wasn\u2019t quite sure how everything was going to work out. As I was driving to school to collect my results, I got a SMS from the university saying that I\u2019ve been accepted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOnce I found out I was accepted, I wasn\u2019t too nervous about my results. I love economics, my mom is an economist. I am looking forward to studying this year.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The teen also shares a message with the class of 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMake the most of school and enjoy it because that\u2019s when life is easy, and you have a lot more opportunity to have fun so don\u2019t take it for granted. Enjoy it while you can and take advantage of the opportunities school gives you.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Louis Mostert, Principal of Camps Bay High School, expressed his satisfaction with the school\u2019s 96.2% pass rate, acknowledging the school\u2019s deviation from a 100% pass rate for the fifth consecutive year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAlthough we missed a perfect pass rate, we recognise the diverse outcomes and note the mixed performances and challenges faced by our learners. This accomplishment underscores the collective commitment to academic excellence at Camps Bay High School. The results reflect not only numerical percentages but, more importantly, the individual strides made by each student towards reaching their personal best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Expressing gratitude to educators and parents, Mostert said, \u201cTogether, we will continue to inspire and empower the next generation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shane Brorson, Principal of Herzlia High School, said they are proud of Myers\u2019 accomplishment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe school is exceptionally proud of his achievement as well as who he has grown to become as a person.
