Towards the end of last year, the Akasia Avenue Foundation set about collecting fem-care products, including deodorant, sanitary towels and soap, to distribute to schools in the Athlone area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe were able to make up fem-care packages and distributed them to Peak View High School, Athlone High School and Bridgetown High,\u201d foundation founder Warren Volkwyn said. \u201cWe also were able to gather school shoes, which we were able to distribute to Silverlea Primary School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the same period, we had an outpouring of gently worn clothing and were able to donate these to the Christine Revel Children\u2019s Home. We know things are tough for so many people, and we are truly grateful to all those who have donated and were able to be a blessing to someone else.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Foundation, which continuously collects donations, aims to help those in dire need throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
