People brought the gees. You could see the joy on people\u2019s facial expressions. I am always blown away by the creativity of people. The idea was that this has to be something for anyone to participate and I take my hat off to some of the participants. I am quite happy with how it all turned out.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strong wind did not deter the lekker atmosphere at the Green Point Fan Walk on Saturday 16 March, as the annual Cape Town Carnival Parade provided some spectacular entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spectators were enthralled by the 10 spectacular floats and more than 1\u2009400 performers who paraded from about 20:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof Rachel Jafta, Cape Town Carnival chair and co-founder, said she was happy that despite the wind, the parade, which is in its 14th year, could go ahead without a glitch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WP Media team, consisting of People\u2019s Post, City Vision and Tygerburger took part in the pre-parade, donning their unique outfits made from old newspapers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aletta Ellis, publishing manager for WP Media, said: \u201cWP Media is thrilled to be part of this event! Community involvement is close to our hearts, and this gathering truly showcases the Cape\u2019s incredible talent. We\u2019re honoured to be associated with the Cape Town Carnival.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade brings together performers from various communities across the province. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strandfontein resident Wendy Brockman from Aphrodite dance group explained that it was her 10th year involvement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an awesome experience. We started training in November already. To us, it is all about fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Intsinga Zeqonga Art Group from Nyanga was one of the many dance groups that had the crowd moving to their rhythmic grooves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renate, a spectator, said it was her first time at the carnival and would return next year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roseline Sias from Kewtown brought her children to the parade and said they were excited to see all the festivities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaftha expressed her gratitude to everyone involved for their support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
