San Souci
\nGirls\u2019 High School has issued an alert to learners and parents after a robbery
\nincident yesterday (Wednesday 15 May) morning. According to a letter issued to
\nparents, a learner was robbed outside the school gates at 07:46.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDespite all our efforts and
\nhaving two men on duty in the drop off zone an incident occurred this morning
\nwhere a (learner) was robbed outside the gate at 07:46,\u201d read the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school explained that they
\nrecently reorganised security measures to guard the school\u2019s drop-off zone and
\nthe back gate closer to the fuel station during the early mornings. The school
\nalso installed an additional security camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The letter also warned that
\nNewlands has recently become a crime hotspot, with the school having been
\ntargeted twice in the past two weeks. \u201cAdditionally, four other schools in the
\narea have experienced similar incidents. The police have been notified and will
\nbe conducting increased patrols in the area,\u201d the letter continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\npolice\u2019s Vispol Commander, confirmed the incident, adding \u201cthat a case has not
\nyet been opened\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith the start of winter, the
\nearly mornings get darker. We have already adjusted our patrol times since
\nsimilar incidents occurred at Claremont High School as well as Groote Schuur
\nHigh School.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
San Souci further urged their
\nparent body to remind learners of the following safety protocols:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1.
\nOnce they arrive at school, they should go directly into the building for their
\nsafety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2.
\nThey should not leave the school premises at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3.
\nThey should not leave their bags unattended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4.
\nThey should report any suspicious individuals on the premises or loitering near
