On Sunday 25 August, Thomas will join thousands of avid walkers in Green Point for the Peninsula School Feeding Association\u2019s (PSFA) annual Blisters for Bread fun walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PSFA provides daily nutritious cooked meals to about 27 601 learners at 187 educational institutions across the Western Cape. All proceeds from the event will go towards the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceedings will kick off on Stephan Way in Green Point and end at the Green Point Cricket Club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will include two routes along the Sea Point Promenade, a 10 km walk starting at 07:45 and a 5 km walk starting at 08:15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas says: \u201cWhen you encounter sadness, you make the most of a situation. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago I decided that since that day I would partake in charity walks. I used to take my mom to all the events, but she died two years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-good-cause\">Good cause<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas added that she loves participating because it is for a good cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI love children. I work at a school and I believe no child should ever have to go to school hungry. The charity walks are all about awareness and making a difference, which is why I participate.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas, who usually dresses up in a costume for the walk, says she is known as \u201cWonder Woman\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne year I dressed up my entire family. There were about 12 of us. We must enjoy what we are doing and it is for a good cause. It is about spreading joy and awareness. Each of us can add value.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She challenged more schools and people to join in on the fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will take part this year as well. I will do the 10 km. I would challenge every school, principal, and teacher to come on board and enter.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span><em>People\u2019s Post<\/em><\/span> is a proud print media sponsor of the walk.
