The City of Cape Town recognised 50 of its Manenberg Community Residential Unit (CRU) tenants who have consistently paid their rent over the past few years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tenants, aged between 70 and 83, are an important part of our public housing success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis event marks the start of many similar events to be held across the metro to thank our tenants who pay their way. Loyal tenants who pay their rent regularly are so important to the City, and it is especially our older tenants who are setting the example and understand that without that income, we cannot properly maintain our units. We are eager to reinvigorate a culture of payment among our tenants, especially the younger generations. With the rental income received, the City is able to effect repairs and maintenance to its affordable housing units. More than 39 000 tenants and their families live in the City\u2019s CRUs.
