Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and Carl Pophaim, Mayco member for human settlements, were in the area to hand over title deeds to 42 beneficiary families as part of the City\u2019s \u2018No Cost Transfer\u2019 initiative to enable cost-free home ownership for qualifying tenants of City affordable rental apartments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is a special moment to hand over title deeds to enable home ownership for these 42 families who are tenants of City rental units in Manenberg. The families who received their title deeds today represent just some of the thousands of beneficiaries who will receive their title deeds over the coming months. This is so much more than a piece of paper \u2013 it is a life-changing document for these families and for future generations, representing not only a home, but an economic asset,\u201d says Hill-Lewis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
