{"id":44069,"date":"2024-12-04T11:36:45","date_gmt":"2024-12-04T09:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/peoplespost\/fresh-eyes-bold-goals-lansdownes-cpf-has-a-new-leader-20241204\/"},"modified":"2025-03-19T23:12:53","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T21:12:53","slug":"fresh-eyes-bold-goals-lansdownes-cpf-has-a-new-leader-20241204","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/peoplespost\/fresh-eyes-bold-goals-lansdownes-cpf-has-a-new-leader-20241204\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh eyes, bold goals: Lansdowne\u2019s CPF has a new leader"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lansdowne\u2019s CPF elected a new executive team on 30 November at the Lansdowne Civic Centre.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Newly elected chair Celeste Maclons aims to bridge the gap between police, safety structures, and the community.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The team\u2019s focus includes reducing crime, securing resources, and enhancing community awareness.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Lansdowne now has a newly elected Community Policing Forum (CPF) executive, following the election held this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday 30 November, registered members attended the election at the Lansdowne Civic Centre, with Celeste Maclons elected as chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maclons says being elected is an honour and appreciates the faith shown in her to lead the CPF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI stood for the position because I am looking at closing the gap between police, the other safety structures and the community. Developing a very strong working relationship and focussing on what is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-goals\">Goals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe new executive and I have the same goals in mind and that\u2019s the important fact. I accepted the nomination as I believe I can help in completing these goals with fresh eyes and a team that has the energy and focus to do what needs to be done,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maclons says the executive has a list of focus areas, including to decrease crime in the precinct, obtaining necessary resources for the precinct and creating community awareness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA police-community partnership is very important to ensure a safe living and working environment in the Lansdowne precinct. We can all help our police officers by joining our local neighbourhood watch or street patrol, being vigilant of your surroundings, reporting any suspicious activity and reporting crime,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you see something, say something. Crime is on the rise because many have become complacent and developed the attitude of \u2018it\u2019s not my problem\u2019, until it is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have had so many residents that have been victims of crime, no matter how small the incident, a crime is a crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I cannot emphasize the importance of reporting and opening a case. Please report it to police, call into the crime \/ emergency lines, show your support to your local police and various safety structures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the festive season approaches, notoriously known as the \u201csilly season\u201d, Maclons encourages everyone to be vigilant, stay safe and have a wonderful festive break. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"
