Georgia Williams, a Grade 12 learner at Heathfield High School, will represent South Africa at the prestigious Delta Airlines Female Leadership Camp in Accra, Ghana, from Sunday 1 March to Sunday 8 March, selected as one of just 15 girls nationwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She earned her place through the ABSA Junior Achievement Programme, which provides learners across South Africa with opportunities to represent their schools and provinces in national competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Delta Air Lines LEAD Camp is an annual, transformative leadership programme for young women of Africa, organised in partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its theme, “Give to Gain”, focuses on servant leadership and community impact. Participants are 61 girls from seven African countries, including Eswatini, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme aims to empower young girls with confidence, leadership skills and mentorship from industry professionals, particularly focusing on STEM and career development.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key aspects of the LEAD programme are Leadership, Empowerment, Achievement and Development. The camp is designed to shift the girls from a “survival mindset” to becoming change makers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mentorship<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants are mentored by female leaders from Delta Air Lines and other industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Growth<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative aims to help girls break barriers, own their space and step into potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Impact<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its inception the programme has grown, hosting 30 girls in its inaugural edition to 61 in 2026, with more than 80 total participants benefiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the national event adjudicators identified dynamic and confident young women to represent the country internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
School pride despite competition results<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although Heathfield High School entered two teams at the national event without securing awards Williams’ individual selection for the week-long international programme represented a significant achievement for the school community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
