Art lovers enjoying the Noordhoek Valley exhibition will be contributing towards the development of future young artists in the Masiphumelele area, when the art expo arrives on Saturday 14 March and Sunday 15 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 28 local artists will be exhibiting at this year’s Noordhoek Open Studios event which is organised by exhibiting artist and owner of Noordhoek Art Point, Aimee Kruger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noordhoek Open Studios began in the 1990s as a charity-driven initiative – a way for artists to come together and raise much-needed funds for local causes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year all exhibiting artists will open their studio doors and offers art enthusiasts to meet the artists and offer them access to observe the artworks in progress, and purchase directly from creators inside their studio settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art Meets Community Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kruger, emphasises the event’s dual mission of showcasing local talent while supporting community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She studied Fine Art at Rhodes University and taught art for many years before opening the gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year all entry ticket proceeds benefit Masi Sports, a non-profit organisation providing structured sports and arts programmes to children with limited access to such opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year’s event raised R43 000 for the cause, with organisers aiming to double that amount in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We created Open Studios to celebrate the incredible creative talent we have here in Noordhoek, but it’s also about connection,” says Kruger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When you step into an artist’s studio, you step into their world. You see the sketches on the wall, the half-finished canvases, the experiments – it makes art feel alive and accessible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direct Artist Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike traditional gallery exhibitions, Open Studios facilitates direct interaction between artists and visitors, creating opportunities for meaningful conversations about creative processes and artistic inspiration.”What makes Open Studios different is that artists get direct contact with clients, which we don’t normally get,” explains Kruger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s really exciting to have that one-on-one chance to chat about our work and show our processes.” The event features diverse artistic mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and mixed media, with artists demonstrating various techniques throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Integration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kruger emphasises the welcoming, non-exclusive atmosphere that defines the event. “It’s about community. You can ask questions, have conversations, and really engage. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or someone who simply loves creativity, there’s something for everyone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noordhoek Art Point Gallery will display artwork created by Masi Sports participants, with some young artists present during the weekend for visitors to meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting Next Generation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Art has the power to change lives,” Kruger notes. “By supporting Open Studios, visitors are not only investing in local artists – they’re helping us bring creative access to children who might never otherwise experience visual arts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being an artist on your own can be very isolating, which is why Open Studios is such a great initiative as it pulls us all together,” Kruger adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
