CAPE TOWN \u2013 <\/strong>Almost a month after the brutal murder of an 86-year-old man in Camps Bay, police say they are still combing through CCTV footage as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man was found by his daughter with his hands and feet tied in his Camps Bay home at about 12:50 on Wednesday 30 December last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camps Bay Police Station Capt Liaan Janse van Rensburg says: \u201cHis daughter searched the house looking for her dad. She found all the doors open, but her dad was nowhere to be found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe walked to the back of the house where she heard water running in the bathroom in the separate entrance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The daughter eventually found her dad on the bathroom floor with his hands and feet tied with fabric around his neck and stuffed in his mouth, says Janse van Rensburg, adding that the suspects fled the scene with the victim\u2019s laptop, cellphone and his bank card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resident Chris von Ulmenstein says the murder has rocked the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were shocked by this. We did not expect a murder to take place here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is more crime happening at the upper slopes of Camps Bay because it is close to the mountain, so the criminals hide in the mountain,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin Steinau, chair of the Camps Bay Community Policing Forum, called for calm among residents and said there is currently no indication of an imminent threat to residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt has been a shock to the community, but it does not seem to be a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said police are actively investigating the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident<\/a> comes on the back of the assault and armed robbery of an 85-year-old man in his home in Petrel Close on Friday 12 December last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this incident, three suspects gained access to the victim\u2019s home through a wooden sliding door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They attacked the homeowner when he tried to scare them off with his firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The perpetrators escaped with the man\u2019s firearm and cellphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
