says he was aware that his 6 July press conference exposing alleged criminality and political interference would put him in the crosshairs \u2013 but he felt he \u201ccouldn\u2019t keep quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at day two of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corruptionwatch.org.za\/madlanga-commission-starts-its-hearings-with-mkhwanazi-in-the-hot-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Madlanga Commission<\/a> into criminality, political interference, and corruption in Pretoria, Mkhwanazi said: \u201cI made these allegations of impropriety and criminality on the part of some against the persons serving the different arms of government and within the entire law enforcement, and that includes some members of the business communities and some supported by ongoing investigations: \u201cThis then suggested that indeed there are some people that are involved in trying to frustrate the police work that will involve politicians and evidence yhat shows police officers are involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mkhwanazi criticized suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu\u2019s decision to disband the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), calling it \u201cirrational\u201d because the PKTT was \u201cunmatched\u201d in its detention and conviction rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also revealed that after the briefing he discovered that businessman Brown Mogotsi, linked to \u201ccartel member\u201d Cat Matlala, was an associate of Mchunu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c I knew that when I did the briefing, the target on my back would grow exponentially, but I
