Capetonians from far and wide played their part in honouring the legacy of the late Nelson Mandela by knitting beanies for those less fortunate at Longbeach Mall in Noordhoek from Wednesday 16 July to Friday 18 July.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 250 people spent 67 minutes of their time to contribute their hand-knitted woolen works toward the annual, Beanies for Babies \u2013 Knit with Love fundraiser. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is the brainchild of Irene Oxley, a volunteer at 67 Blankets, a nationwide movement using knitting and crocheting as tools for social upliftment, warmth and dignity.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was hosted in partnership with 67 Blankets. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three-day knitting and crocheting event saw over 200 beanies created. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Oxley the hand-made goods will now be ditributed to the babies at the neonatal and maternity wards at a hospital of their choice.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
