Athlone police responded to a shooting in Blossom Road, Bridgetown on Saturday afternoon at about 13:45, police spokesperson Sgt. Wesley Twigg said.

Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds to his body under a bridge, Twigg said. Medical personnel declared him dead on the scene.

Athlone detectives are investigating a murder case. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.
