Aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs in Southfield have a unique opportunity to scale their business dreams through a free, upcoming eight-week training initiative on Saturday 26 September.
The Start Smart entrepreneurial programme kicks off at Southfield Library next weekend, offering practical tools to help community members build sustainable local enterprises.
Entrepreneurial programme
The programme runs every Saturday from 09:00 to 11:00 until Saturday 14 November this year.
The project is facilitated by the Ada Roslind Foundation (ARF) in partnership with Southfield Library.
Operating under ARF’s “Hands That Build” initiative, the course aims to empower everyday individuals to achieve financial independence.
Organisers emphasise that academic degrees are not required, only a strong willingness to learn.
The interactive curriculum shifts away from abstract university theory.
Instead, it provides actionable business skills, templates, accountability and hands-on learning.
Over the eight weeks, participants will learn how to recognise their existing skills, understand customer needs, manage business finances and create a concrete business action plan.
Skills workshop
The programme is open to all community members aged 18 and older.
It specifically targets aspiring entrepreneurs, individuals wanting to monetise their skills to earn an income and business owners whose ventures are five years old or younger.
No prior business experience is required to register.
Beyond classroom learning, participants will benefit from a network of like-minded peers.
Those who complete the course will also attend a sponsored Indaba event and celebrate their achievements at an official graduation ceremony.
