CAPE TOWN – The Grassy Park Community Police Forum (CPF), in partnership with Grassy Park SAPS, the Grassy Park Youth Desk and local neighbourhood watches, brought smiles to children during an outreach to Heaven’s Nest in Ottery on Friday 3 April.

The visit formed part of the CPF’s ongoing efforts to uplift vulnerable communities while strengthening relationships between residents and local safety structures.

Children at the home were treated to a day filled with fun activities, including a magic show and an karate demonstration.

The highlight of the visit was an Easter egg hunt, which saw children excitedly searching for hidden treats.

Laughter and joy filled the space as the youngsters took part, with even a few adults joining in the festive spirit.

In a separate outreach on Saturday 4 April, the CPF and its partners extended their initiative to Riemvasmaak in Phumlani Village.

There, they teamed up with community member Beryl “Aunty Girly” Williams to distribute Easter eggs to local children.

The initiative aimed to bring joy and care to children in the area, many of whom face daily challenges.

The simple gesture of sharing treats created a memorable experience and strengthened community bonds.

CPF representatives expressed their gratitude to the businesses, performers and Neighbourhood Watch members who contributed to the success of both events.

Their support ensured that the children were not only entertained but also felt valued and appreciated.

The CPF has encouraged residents and businesses to continue supporting initiatives like these.

Community members who would like to donate to Heaven’s Nest in Ottery or get involved in local Neighbourhood Watches can contact the CPF via email at Grassyparkcpf@gmail.com.
