CAPE TOWN–Perivale Primary School’s Grade 3 learners enjoyed a fun-filled and educational trip learning about the ocean’s aquatic creatures when they visited the Save Our Seas Foundation in Kalk Bay on Tuesday 19 August.

School teacher Nicolene Langer, who facilitated the excursion, says: “Since 2003, the Save Our Seas Foundation has been dedicated to protecting life in our oceans, especially sharks and rays. The learners were able to learn more about protecting earth with the theme linked to pollution. The staff showed them a video and pictures of the different types of pollution and even played a Bingo game,” she recalls.

The best part of the excursion was when learners were able to touch some sea creatures.

“They were taught about how important they are for our environment. The learners loved to feel and see the sea creatures up close. They also learned about the different types of sharks and how to tell the difference between a fish and a shark. They were able to touch and feel a jaw of a shark which all of them thought were fake and even the skin of a shark.”

The learners also received lunch and an educational book.

People’s Post asked some of the learners what they enjoyed most about the excursion.

Amara Charles said the most exciting parts of the excursion was when he got to touch the sea creatures and riding on the bus.
