Comprehensive infrastructure Upgrades

The ambitious project encompasses multiple infrastructure improvements designed to enhance the area’s transportation network.

Work includes repairs to kerbs, channels and isolated block paving, addressing structural issues that have developed over time.

Teams will also focus on isolated sidewalk repairs, ensuring pedestrian safety and accessibility throughout the affected areas.

The programme includes complete resurfacing of deteriorated road sections and reapplication of road markings to improve visibility and traffic flow.

Traffic management measures

Mayco member for Urban Mobility Rob Quintas emphasised the project’s importance while acknowledging potential inconvenience to residents.

“These roadworks in Ottery aim to enhance road quality, improve traffic flow and ensure the long-term safety of commuters in the area. I urge residents and motorists to remain alert to temporary traffic lane closures and to plan their routes accordingly during this project’s period.”

Community cooperation needed

The councillor stressed the collaborative nature of infrastructure improvement: “Together we’re helping keep Cape Town moving.”

Residents are advised to expect temporary traffic disruptions and consider alternative routes during peak construction hours.

The City recommends allowing extra travel time and staying updated on daily progress through official communication channels.

The substantial investment in Ottery’s Road infrastructure represents the City’s commitment to maintaining and improving transportation networks across Cape Town’s communities, ensuring long-term benefits for local residents and businesses.
