Project Eudaimonia Christmas 2025 is bringing hope to people experiencing homelessness in Cape Town. At the centre of the work is sixteen-year-old changemaker and Junior Town Council mayor Michael-Daniel Bam.

A small act of kindness grows

What started as a small act of kindness in 2023 has grown into a movement. This year, Project Eudaimonia Christmas 2025 through the Michael Daniel Bam Foundation plans to distribute meals and U-Turn vouchers to 225 people across the Southern Suburbs.

The word Eudaimonia, from Greek, means “human flourishing”. It is the heart of Project Eudaimonia Christmas 2025.

“When I started this project, it was never about numbers. It was about people,” said Bam, who founded the youth-led NPO at fourteen. “Every meal represents dignity, care, and connection. That is what matters.”

From 25 meals to a citywide effort

The project began in December 2023. Bam used his own pocket money to hand out 25 meals and vouchers to people living in a nearby park. Two years later, Project Eudaimonia Christmas 2025 has grown into a community-supported operation with volunteers and partners.

According to Bam, the work goes far beyond food distribution.

“The growth of Project Eudaimonia is not just about feeding more people. It is about widening the circle of compassion. When we come together, we can create lasting change,” he said.

Restoring dignity through essentials

The foundation will provide meals and U-Turn vouchers as part of Project Eudaimonia Christmas 2025. These can be exchanged for toiletries, clothing and rehabilitation support through the U-Turn programme.

“At its heart, Project Eudaimonia is a celebration of humanity,” Bam added. “Each meal is a message that you are seen, you matter, and someone cares.”
