Kensington residents are invited to attend a free educational workshop on estate planning and the importance of having a valid last will and testament.
The event takes place at the Kensington Community Hall on Thursday 25 June from 11:00.
The free workshop, hosted by a local real estate agency, aims to raise awareness about the legal and practical aspects of estate planning, including the administration of deceased estates and the steps families can take to protect their assets and relatives.
Nadia Moses, director of Nadia Moses Real Estate, said many families experience significant challenges following the death of a relative due to the absence of a valid will or a lack of understanding of estate administration processes.
These challenges often include disputes over inheritance, delays in finalising estates among others.
“Through our work within various communities, we have identified a growing need for education in this area.
“Many families face significant challenges following the passing of a loved one, including disputes over inheritance, delays in the administration of estates, and uncertainty regarding legal processes.”
She adds that properties left unmanaged after a death can become vulnerable to vandalism, unlawful occupation, and criminal activity, negatively impacting both families and communities.
According to Moses, the workshop will provide practical information and guidance to help individuals and families make informed decisions about their estates and inheritance matters.
Attendees wishing to have a last will and testament drafted are requested to bring:
- A copy of their South African ID document
- The full names and surnames of their preferred Executor(s)
- The full names and surnames of the heirs or beneficiaries they wish to nominate in their will
