Town City FC, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, is offering 10,000
free tickets for their match against Supersport United FC on Saturday, 28
September - The #FreeFootballForAll initiative aims to make football accessible to
everyone, with free tickets available for eight home-league games. - Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from the club’s
offices or Athlone Stadium ticket kiosk on game day.
Tomorrow, Saturday 28 September, will see history made with
10 000 free tickets made available for the Cape Town City FC match against
Supersport United FC at 20:00.
This is one of eight home-league games made available to
fans thanks to a partnership between the club and the City of Cape Town.
The #FreeFootballForAll initiative will see 10 000 free
tickets made available for each match at Athlone Stadium.
“We are committed to breaking barriers down so everyone
in our community can enjoy the sport we all love, without the worry of
cost,” wrote the club in a social media announcement.
In a video statement, club chairman John Comitis said the
City has supported the club for a number of years, at both Athlone and Cape
Town Stadium.
“This initiative is in conjunction with the City and the Mayor. This initiative is free football for all. You fans have been great to this club and it is time for us to show that we appreciate you and we are giving something back. We want to bring fans to the ground.”
Cape Town City describes itself as Cape Town’s premier
football team, competing in South Africa’s topflight, the Premier Soccer
League.
The club was founded in 1962 and reformed in 2016, using its
roots in Nyanga, the City Centre and Cape Flats to unite Cape Town’s rich
footballing history under one team.
The seven remaining games will be played between October and
March, with Cape Town City vs Magesi on Sunday 27 October at 15:00 and Cape
Town City vs Polokwane on Wednesday 27 November at 19:30 being the only other
free games this year.
Tickets are on a first come first serve basis and are
available at the clubs offices in Shortmarket Street, CBD in the week of the
match or from the Athlone Stadium ticket kiosk on game day.
