Ward goals
Outlining her plans for the ward if she is elected, EFF candidate Athi Cekusi said she aims “to bring service delivery to all residents, including those who have been continuously neglected in informal settlements. I am asking residents to vote for an EFF councillor, as the EFF has the most beneficial manifesto to provide our people of ward 45.We will ensure 24 hour clinics, where people are not limited to treatment and would have access to clinics at any time of the day.
“The EFF will also ensure that all elderly, poor households and Sassa beneficiaries are loaded on the municipal system and would be excluded from paying water, electricity and other municipal services. We will ensure all residents have access to flushing toilets, electricity and clean water, that streets lights, potholes and other service delivery issues are resolved timeously.
Job creation
“We need to ensure all our youth have access to sport fields and beneficial programmes, and that the unemployed are given opportunities through job creation, and empowered through programmes to upskill themselves. The EFF will release municipal land in the ward to ensure much needed infrastructure is built to the benefit of the community, and with this, employing residents of Ward 45 to work on all its community projects.
“The EFF will also tackle crime in the community by strengthening municipal law enforcement, expanding crime-prevention forums, working with the police and local communities, and improving safer public spaces. It will also use modern technology such as CCTV and real-time monitoring, while supporting community-led initiatives and enforcing municipal bylaws to build a safer neighbourhood.
“An EFF councillor will be available 24/7 and will sit regular meetings with the community. When the EFF wins the municipality we would have the power to make these changes in line with our manifesto to benefit the people.”
