The non-profit fitness organisation Vannie Hanover Park celebrated their second birthday on Saturday 1 October with a variety of entertainment with the police K9 dog show.
The celebrations were held on the open field between Blomvlei and Lynburg Road in Hanover Park.
The NPO was established in April 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic to inspire people who were depressed and unhealthy.
Glenn Hans, founder and chair of the NPO, says he has been living in Hanover Park for 37 years and have a deep passion to help uplift his community.
“With the NPO I gave the community an alternative for what they are experiencing daily. We endeavour to make a positive impact, working beyond our boundaries, improving people’s bleak daily lives by focusing on mental and physical wellness. We have about 120 members ranging from the ages of six to 75 years,” Hans says.
The main criteria for entry into the organisation is a need and desire for mental and physical well-being.
Besides physically excercising, the community of Hanover Park is involved in excursions, made aware of environmental problems and how to care for their animals.
“At the celebrations children from the community had a dance battle, there was singing, face painting, jumping castles and a variety of stalls where community members could sell their goodies. The celebrations were a great success and we would like to thank the community of Hanover Park for coming out and supporting Vannie Hanover Park and each at the event,” he says.
