CAPE TOWN – Police and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) conducted a joint operation in Ottery on Friday, 17 April, at about 06:30, following a spate of recent shooting incidents in the area.
The operation aimed to restore calm and ensure community safety.
Acting on gathered intelligence, officers executed search warrants and proceeded to a residence in Impala Court where a firearm was believed to be hidden.
Upon arrival, a man answered the door and was informed of the purpose of the visit.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of a Taurus pistol and 75 rounds of 9mm ammunition concealed in a cupboard.
The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
