CAPE TOWN – Beautiful artworks on display at Scarborough Village will support the vulnerable animals at the Redhill animal rescue this festive season.
Over 30 local artists are showcasing their work to support the Redhill animal rescue (RAR) at this year’s Deep South Community Art 7th annual art exhibition.
The showcase started on Friday 5 December and will continue until Saturday 20 December.
RAR is a non-profit organisation (NPO) which supports the Redhill community, near Scarborough, to look after their pets.
Every Tuesday, the RAR team carries 230 kg of dog food and 90 kg of cat food into Redhill and Dido Valley to feed the animals.
Art meets animal welfare
The annual exhibition brings together residents of Scarborough alongside invited guest artists, all united in supporting veterinary care for animals.
“The residents of Scarborough love their animals and want to help the less fortunate with veterinary solutions,” says organiser Irene Oxely, emphasising why proceeds from art sales will benefit the animal rescue.
Diverse artistic display
Visitors can explore a varied collection of artwork, including photography, sculpture, oil paintings, acrylic pieces, watercolours, and mixed media creations. The exhibition offers something for every art enthusiast while supporting a worthy cause.
Participating artists will be present during the exhibition to paint on-site, giving visitors the opportunity to meet the creators and watch the artistic process unfold.
Annual tradition of giving
The exhibition has become an annual tradition in Scarborough, with each year featuring a fundraising component to support different community needs, Oxely says.
Visit the exhibition
The exhibition is free and offers visitors the chance to enjoy local artistic talent while contributing to animal welfare in the Redhill community.
With free admission and the opportunity to purchase meaningful artwork that supports a local cause, the exhibition embodies the true spirit of festive season.
