With just four days to go until this year’s Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk, taking place at the Green Point Common Sports Grounds on Sunday 16 August, participants are urged to familiarise themselves with all the rules and to arrive early to avoid any inconvenience.

Organised by the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) in association with Lucky Star, the event raises vital funds to help the organisation continue providing nutritious meals to thousands of vulnerable children across the Western Cape.

Organisers also praised the Capetonians after reaching this year’s target of participants.

Petrina Pakoe, director of the PSFA, expressed her gratitude to the overwhelming number of supporters who helped the organisation reach its 10 000-entry capacity ahead of the event.

“We are grateful to everyone who entered, we managed to reach our 10 000 entries target and we were able to close our entries earlier than anticipated. So, we are looking forward to a great event.”

With thousands of participants expected, Pakoe encouraged walkers to arrive early and adhere to event instructions to help the day run smoothly.

“We encourage people to arrive so that they can find sufficient parking. We urge them to follow the guidelines and instructions as per the signage. We just want people to have fun and to remember that this is a walk and not a run.”

Pakoe thanked everyone who entered the charity walk, saying their support will help the organisation continue providing nutritious meals to children in need.

“Thank you to everyone who entered. I look forward to seeing them at the starting line. Every cent of the entries goes directly towards our feeding programme.”

While entries closed on Sunday 2 August, registered participants can still collect their race numbers from selected Sportsman’s Warehouse stores across Cape Town ahead of the event.
