GQEBERHA<\/strong> – The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) are investigating a case of kidnapping after a 22-year-old woman was reportedly abducted in the Gelvandale area of Gqeberha on Wednesday, 11 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provincial Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana confirmed that the victim was allegedly taken in the area and that an investigation is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Hawks can confirm that a 22-year-old victim was reportedly abducted in the Gelvandale area on 11 March,\u201d said Mhlakuvana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation is currently investigating a case of kidnapping. We are following all the leads that can assist us with the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to information circulating on social media, the woman has been identified as Beyonce Cairncross. A widely shared poster claims she was taken outside Famhealth in Gelvandale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The poster further alleges that she was wearing brown gym tights, a white top and black-and-white Vans sneakers at the time of the incident and claims she was taken by four armed men and one woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, authorities have not confirmed these specific details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDue to the sensitivity of the matter, no further information will be divulged,\u201d said Mhlakuvana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unverified reports circulating on social media also claim that a ransom demand of R2 million may have been made following the alleged abduction. The Hawks have not confirmed these claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have credible information to assist investigators with information related to the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
