GQEBERHA<\/strong> – The workriders have the honour to start a massive month of horse racing at the Fairview track in Greenbushes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first race at Friday’s meeting is the Work Riders Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1000m.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be only the third race for the Fairview amateur riders this season and as always, the competition will be fierce.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avuyile Mbumbulu and Sibongile Liyaba have one victory each behind their names. Another victory for one of them will be a big step closer to being crowned the Champion Workrider in the province at the end of the season on 31 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a lot of banter at the Fairview stables among the workriders, with many predicting victory on Friday.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An exciting race is on the cards, and with family and friends always there to support the riders, it is a great atmosphere and a race not to be missed.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With no feature race on Friday to focus on, there will be a lot of interest in a strong Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m. This should also be a cracking race.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday’s action is the first of five meetings at Fairview this month. There is lots to look forward to, with feature races on the 13th and the 20th.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The East Cape Fillies Nursery tops the bill on Friday the 13th. Two features, the Guineas and the Sprint Cup, will be contested on the 20th.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the annual Classic Day at Turffontein in Johannesburg on Saturday and for racing in the Eastern Cape it is great news that two Fairview trainers, Alan Greeff and Dean Smith, will be involved.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith will saddle All Systems Go in the R1.5 million SA Classic over 1800m.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Golden Palm will represent the Greeff stable in the R1.25 million SA Fillies Classic over the same distance.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At last Friday’s Fairview meeting we saw another brilliant performance by the Greeff-trained Anotherdanceforme who won the Breeders Guineas for three-year-old fillies over 1600m. It was wonderful to see the filly back to her best after she was ill for a while. Greeff did a tremendous job to get Anotherdanceforme back on track and Fourie handled the temperamental filly very well in the race.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anotherdanceforme is unbeaten from seven starts at Fairview and can now put her below-par run in the Western Cape Fillies Championship in Cape Town in November behind her. She is ready to take on the best again.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stables of Greeff and Smith were in great form at the Fairview meeting, saddling three winners each.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
