Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Babalwa Lobishe has set a 14-day deadline to repair a collapsed power line, which has caused widespread electricity and water outages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lobishe, together with Acting City Manager Advocate Lonwabo Ngoqo and Acting Executive Director for Electricity and Energy, Bernhardt Lamour, has conducted an oversight visit to the Bethelsdorp\u2013Greenbushes 132kV overhead power line, where two towers collapsed due to vandalism and adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident resulted in a widespread power outage affecting large parts of the Metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently Municipal technical teams are on site working under challenging conditions to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore electricity supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit,  Lobishe announced that a 14-day deadline, effective from today, has been set for the full restoration of the affected power line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Municipality confirmed that all necessary resources have been mobilised to ensure that repairs are completed as safely and efficiently as possible within the stipulated timeframe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents were advised that, as part of system management and load balancing during the repair period, there may be a two-hour load reduction implemented in affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
