Nelson Mandela Metro schools have produced remarkable individual achievements in the 2025 matric examinations, with learners securing top national rankings while contributing to the district’s improved overall performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond individual achievements, the Nelson Mandela Metro district showed strong overall performance with particular strength in Accounting at 84.6%. However, Mathematics performance at 69.7% remains an area requiring focused attention for future improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collegiate Girls’ High sets national standard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collegiate Girls’ High School produced exceptional results, with Maria Freercks achieving the second-highest performance nationally. She secured eight distinctions with a remarkable 97% average, excelling across English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Music, Physical Sciences and Further Studies Mathematics.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collegiate Girls’ High School learner Maria Freercks achieved the second-highest matric result nationally. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Freercks, who aspires to study Medicine, attributed her success to her Christian faith and family support. “Through God’s grace, I am privileged to have two loving and supportive parents,” she reflected. “My advice is to work hard but also to have a balance. It’s your last year of school, so remember to enjoy it as well.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jennifer Friskin matched this achievement with eight distinctions, seven above 90%, placing her first in the district.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friskin, who plans to study Actuarial Science at Stellenbosch University, achieved distinctions in English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Information Technology, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Further Studies Mathematics.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She expressed resilience in her message to future matriculants: “Setbacks are not failures \u2014 they are opportunities to learn and grow. When things don’t go as planned, take a moment to reflect, adapt and keep moving forward.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pearson High School achieves exceptional academic excellence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pearson High School was announced as a top-performing school in the Eastern Cape, demonstrating remarkable academic achievement with its 2025 matriculation results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school achieved a 100% pass rate with 93.3% of learners receiving a Bachelor’s pass, positioning graduates well for university admission.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pearson High School learner, Yvonne Weitsz, was placed first in Cluster B at the Eastern Cape Regional Awards, with the school principal, Haldane Pienaar.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The standout performer, Yvonne Weitsz, achieved a 94.4% average with seven distinctions and was invited to the Eastern Cape Top Achievers’ Awards Ceremony last week. The school’s academic achievement was further highlighted by 38 learners achieving an A aggregate, with three learners obtaining averages of 90% or higher and 35 learners achieving 80% or higher.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top Accounting achiever<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sesona Masingili from Soqhayisa Secondary School has been recognised as the top Accounting learner in the Eastern Cape and will enrol for a BCom Accounting degree at the University of Pretoria this year. He also achieved third place nationally in Accounting and has been recognised as one of the top achievers in the province.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Your hard work and dedication are paving the way for a bright future in the accounting profession,” The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants commented on this achievement via social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
