POTCHEFSTROOM<\/strong> – Police in Potchefstroom are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a 19-year-old motorist died in the early hours of Thursday, 11 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The North-West University student died after she allegedly lost control of her vehicle in an early morning accident at a Potchefstroom intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, the student was driving a white Suzuki Vitara when she lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Chief Albert Luthuli and Beyers Naud\u00e9 Street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The motorist was certified dead at the scene,” police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, North-West University spokesperson Louis Jacobs said it was deeply distressing for the university to lose one of its students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s always very saddening for the NWU, particularly when we lose a student – one of the NWU community members,” Jacobs said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At this stage, all possible support is being offered to colleagues, friends and family. It remains deeply distressing for the NWU to lose one of our students, regardless of the circumstances.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
