policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump has sought to remove Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, a move critics say is aimed at filling the central bank with officials likely to back his calls for lower interest rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to France&#8217;s <em>Radio Classique<\/em>, Lagarde said it would be \u201cvery difficult\u201d for Trump to fully sway the Fed\u2019s policymaking body in his favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, she added, \u201cIf he were to succeed, it would pose a very serious danger to both the US and global economies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lagarde emphasised the Fed\u2019s role in maintaining price stability and promoting \u201coptimal\u201d employment. \u201cIf monetary policy were dictated by one individual, the balance of the US economy \u2013 and the ripple effects
