La Colombe<\/a> (55), FYN<\/a> (82) and new entrant Salsify<\/a> (88) secured their places among the culinary elite in the 2025 rankings, continuing the country\u2019s rising reputation for world-class food and drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coveted list, published annually since 2002 (except during the 2020 pandemic), reflects the opinions of over 1 100 food experts worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a globally recognised gastronomic reference point which showcases leading trends and highlights great restaurants from all corners of the Earth,\u201d according to the organization\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa’s food scene heats up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t the only international recognition South Africa\u2019s food and drink scene has received lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Espresso Lab in Cape Town and The Whippet in Johannesburg recently scored spots among the world\u2019s 100 best coffee shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country\u2019s wines are also turning heads globally. Kanonkop ranked 24th on the world\u2019s most admired wine brands list for 2025, making it the \u201cMost Admired Wine Brand in Africa & Middle East.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bruce Jack Wines also made the cut at number 47 \u2013 the fifth time a South African winery has featured since the country first appeared on the list in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perched at the top of Constantia Nek within the Silvermist organic wine estate, La Colombe took the 55th spot on the prestigious list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
