THE Western Cape better be ready \u2013 some very talented Nelson Mandela Bay cricketers are heading your way, and they mean business!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three Gqeberha schools, Pearson, Grey and Framesby High, will embark on mission Western Cape next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pearson will start the Gqeberha onslaught on Friday already when they take on Wynberg Boys\u2019 High in Cape Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next day Pearson will play against Somerset College, and they will round up their trip with a clash against Rondebosch on Sunday. To travel and play three matches away against tough opposition will be a huge challenge for Pearson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grey High are at home against St Andrew\u2019s College on Sunday and will be hosting Grey College the weekend after that before their Cape Town trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will then play against Bishops, Wynberg, Rondebosch and SACS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Framesby are in Makhanda this coming weekend before they hit the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kingswood College will be hosting Framesby on Friday when they play a T20 match. The next day will be a 50-overs match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following weekend Framesby will start their short tour with a 50-overs match against Punt in Mossel Bay, before tackling Boland Landbou and Somerset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next month is going to be a really exciting one for the Bay cricketers before the last matches of the season which will probably be played during the first weekend of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were mixed results for the Bay sides this past weekend. Paul Roos was too strong for Grey in a two-day match in Gqeberha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pearson also played at home and won the time format match against Graeme College on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is always a Kariega Derby when Daniel Pienaar (DP) and Brandwag clash on the sports field. They were involved in a 50-overs match, but DP only needed 27.2 overs to dismiss Brandwag for 98 runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sachin Coetzee (4\/26) and Jean Schultz (2\/15) did the damage with the ball for DP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With Daveric Petersen leading the way with an unbeaten knock of 37 runs, DP reached the target in the 12th over to secure victory by 8 wickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Petersen was well supported by Owam Malika. Malika scored 20 runs and made sure the Brandwag bowlers, who were trying their best, didn\u2019t get a look in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despatch got the better of DF Malherbe in a T20 match on Friday and was also on the winning side when these two teams played a 50-overs match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 20-overs clash was a nail-biter and Despatch scored the winning run with only three balls left. Despatch won the next match by 135 runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victoria Park gave Nico Malan a run for their money, but the Humansdorp team got home by 5 wickets. VP scored 118\/9 and Nico replied with 119\/5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pearson captain, Cayden Wilson, produced a fine all-round performance in Sunday\u2019s victory by 4 wickets over Paul Roos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
