{"id":1164,"date":"2024-11-13T10:39:11","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T08:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/peexpress\/miss-universe-pageant-to-be-screened-live-on-s3-20241113\/"},"modified":"2025-02-26T16:27:24","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T14:27:24","slug":"miss-universe-pageant-to-be-screened-live-on-s3-20241113","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/peexpress\/miss-universe-pageant-to-be-screened-live-on-s3-20241113\/","title":{"rendered":"Miss Universe pageant to be screened live on S3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux is the first ever deaf contestant to participate in Miss Universe and South African fans will be able to follow her journey and all the glitz, glamour and action with the finale being broadcast live on S3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Miss Universe finale takes place on Saturday, November 16, and will be broadcast live on S3 (DStv Channel 193) from 04h00 on Sunday, November 17, with a first repeat later the same day at 20h00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miss Universe 2024&nbsp;will be the 73rd Miss Universe pageant and takes place in the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, where Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the end of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contestants from 127 countries are competing in the competition which will be hosted by <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>US TV personality Mario Lopez. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will serve as one of the commentators along with Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza, Puerto Rican TV personality Carlos Adyan and Brazilian actress, model and former Miss Universe contestant Julia Gama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time, the Miss Universe Organisation has allowed all women over 18 years old to participate, no matter their age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Roux is currently busy with rehearsals ahead of the pageant finale with the highly anticipated national costume reveal on November 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking from Mexico, Le Roux says: \u201cIt has been a jam-packed schedule but I have enjoyed seeing some of Mexico and how beautiful it is, experiencing some of its culture and meeting contestants from around the world. I am working hard but also taking the time to savour every moment and memory. I want to thank South Africans for their messages of support \u2013 it has meant the world to me and I will be carrying all of you with me when I walk on the Miss Universe stage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adds Miss South Africa Organisation CEO Stephanie Weil: \u201cWe are so proud of how well Mia is doing in Mexico. She has proudly taken her very special message of inclusivity to Miss Universe, one in which she has committed to represent every South African. She is an inspiration as she continues to represent every excluded individual with the goal to bring a future of hope and opportunity to them. We are rooting for her to take the crown.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Says S3 Head of Channel, Sane Zondi: \u201cWe are proud to broadcast Miss Universe 2024 to South Africans again this year, but even more honoured to champion our current Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux \u2013 1.8 million viewers tuned in to watch her crowning on S3 in August. I know she will be flying our flag high in Mexico and give her all on that stage. We have very high hopes that she will make us proud and make the world once again take note of South Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Africa is one of the top pageant countries in the world and has
