While Nelson Mandela Bay has officially been declared a
\nhotspot amid a sharp increase of Covid-19 infections, the province is still
\nopen for tourism this festive season, with a new campaign to highlight its many
\nattractions recently launched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNature is calling, have an entanglement with nature,\u201d was
\nthe message of the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency CEO Vuyani Dayimani,
\nat the launch of the Summer Season campaign held in Coffee Bay.    <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged tourists to enjoy the province\u2019s wide-open
\nspaces and nature reserves after a difficult year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have gone through a lot
\nfor the best part of the year, so nature provides us with that opportunity to
\nreflect and be able to be grateful for being alive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared Nelson
\nMandela Bay metro a hotspot, and instituted curfews, restricted alcohol sales
\nand new rules for religious gatherings and funerals vigils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, Eastern Cape MEC of finance and
\neconomic development Mlungisi Mvoko said that tourism continues to be one of
\nthe sectors hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, but that there has been
\nsome recovery in business since September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis brings hope that the festive season will assist to
\nlift the sector.  <\/span>In trying to  <\/span>support this increase  <\/span>the Eastern Cape government and private
\nsector have been collaborating and endorsing protocols and common standards to
\nensure the wellbeing of the sector workforce and that of the travellers as the
\nsector transitions into the \u2018new normal\u2019,\u201d said Mvoko. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTourism has traditionally been built upon history,
\nlocation, luxury affordability,\u201d chairperson of the Wild Coast Holiday
\nAssociation William Ross said. \u201cWe now have an opportunity to change these old
\nperceptions to what makes us unique, and that is unforgettable experiences and
\nstories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
