As part of continuing the legacy of our late president, Nelson Mandela, Isuzu Motors South Africa handed over five specially-customised wheelchairs worth over R80 000 to bring hope and mobility to special needs learners at Lonwabo School, in Motherwell.
The five wheelchairs were engineered and customised according to the individual needs and requirements of each of the five Lonwabo School learners who will be receiving a wheelchair.
“About five percent of Isuzu Motors South Africa’s headcount consists of people who are differently-abled. As an internationally-recognised Top Employer spearheading transformation in the automotive industry, Isuzu Motors South Africa is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment to ensure all mankind have a sense of belonging and are treated with respect and dignity,” Makoloi continued.
The donation and customisation of these wheelchairs have been realised through a partnership between Isuzu SA and the Dabane Foundation which aims to raise awareness about the plight of people living with disabilities.
“As the Dabane Foundation we are extremely pleased to partner with Isuzu in our mission to help people, especially children, living with disabilities to be mobile. This generous donation by Isuzu is positively impacting the everyday life of each one of these children who have received a wheelchair,” says Dabane Foundation Founder, Lubabalo Jack.
Lonwabo School caters for children with all forms of disabilities and offers a special syllabus and programme.
