Seventeen young people have been granted the opportunity to be part of Radio KC\u2019s Mandy Rossouw School of Community Journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative was started last year in honor of Rossouw who passed away in 2013. She is an old learner of Paarl Gymnasium High School and was a senior political journalist at Mail & Guardian at the time of her death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to dr Harlan Cloete, Radio KC chairperson, all the 17 young people are unemployed that have been enrolled. Ten of them will do a radio production learnership, while the other seven an interactive media learnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programmes will run for 12 months and is in partnership with National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa and MICT Seta. It is also focused workbased learning and will take place at KC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cloete added: \u201cWe want to make sure that unemployed youth have a fighting chance and we very excited about the opportunity. Our appeal is for local business and NGOs to give the youth an opportunity to showcase their talents and skills\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
