The African proverb, \u201cIt takes a village to raise a child\u201d, means that an entire community must interact with children for them to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This saying was clear at Val de Vie, when approximately 250 donors arrived to celebrate House Andrew Murray (HAM) Youth Care Centre mentorship and bursary fund with the eighth Spring High Tea recently. HAM, based in Wellington, cares for 150 children, between the ages of 1 and 18 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The High tea was hosted by the Val de Vie Foundation, where guests were spoiled with home-made baked goods, flowers and tea and coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr South Africa 2019 and ex-resident of HAM, Heinrich Gabler, was the guest speaker for the morning and shared his life story. He reminded everyone that \u201cit does not matter where you come from in life, it matters where you are going to\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To cater for the needs of the children, HAM is dependent on assistance from the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
