Skoolbeheerliggame het geen reg om skole toe te maak sonder die toestemming van die Wes-Kaapse Onderwysdepartement (WKOD) nie. Dit word as onwettig beskou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So s\u00ea Bronagh Hammond, \u2018n woordvoerder van die departement, nadat die beheerligamme van vyf skole in die Paarl blykbaar probeer druk dat di\u00e9 skole (Dalweide Prim\u00ear, William Lloyd Prim\u00ear, Magnolia Prim\u00ear, Charleston Hill Sekond\u00ear en Paulus Joubert Sekond\u00ear) hul deure vir tyd en wyl moet sluit.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Burger het Woensdag (17 Junie)<\/a> berig dat die vyf skole se beheerliggaame Maandag (15 Junie) tydens \u2018n vergadering besluit het dat hulle die bestuur van die skole gaan vra om nie te heropen nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens \u2018n woorvoerder van die groep, Henry Clayton, vrees leerders en onderwysers vir hul lewens tydens die Covid-19-pandemie wat steeds woed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By navraag het Hammond ges\u00ea hulle is bewus van die gesamentlike brief van die beheerliggame en is tans in die proses om daarop terugvoering te lewer.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns herhaal dat dit nie binne die skoolbeheerliggaam se mandaat val om \u2018n skool te sluit nie, en dat om \u2018n skool te sluit sonder toestemming van die hoof van departement \u2018n onwettige aksie sou wees. Die departement sal die saak egter met die betrokkenes opneem,\u201d voeg Hammond by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skoolhoof Ivor Collins, van Paulus Joubert Sekond\u00ear, s\u00ea dat sy skool tans oop is en dat 103 vanuit die 172 matrikulante klas bywoon. Hy beklemtoon dat afwesigheid probleme skep en dat dit aangespreek moet word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In verband met die bekommernisse van die skoolbeheerliggame laat weet Collins dat hy nie bewus is daarvan dat sy skool wil sluit nie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
