{"id":64978,"date":"2022-02-04T06:02:03","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T04:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/paarlpost\/lovers-at-long-last-after-the-bachelor-sa-20220202-2\/"},"modified":"2025-03-19T21:29:58","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T19:29:58","slug":"lovers-at-long-last-after-the-bachelor-sa-20220202-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/paarlpost\/lovers-at-long-last-after-the-bachelor-sa-20220202-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Lovers at long last after \u2018The Bachelor SA\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Following a sensational whirlwind romance for all of South Africa to see, <span>The Bachelor SA<\/span> season two contestant Bridget Marshall promised her hand in marriage to former Golden Lions rugby player Kobus de Kock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobus (33) has deep roots in the Boland as a former Paarl Boys\u2019 High learner, currently a sales manager of new cars at NTT Volkswagen, Paarl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He shared the love story with his betrothed Bridget (33) to whom he popped the big question, years after their first encounter in Durban in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy first impression of her was that she\u2019s simply beautiful with a lust for life. I had planned on proposing in December while on holiday in Cape Agulhas. My parents now live there and it\u2019s where I\u2019ve spent vacations my entire life,\u201d he reminisced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobus was blessed to celebrate the occasion surrounded with family at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before rekindling their long-time-coming spark, Bridget competed for Marc Buckner\u2019s heart in the 2020 circuit of <span>The Bachelor SA<\/span>. Her journey, however, came to an end when Buckner\u2019s final rose was offered to Marisia van Wyk in the season two final rose ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bridget said: \u201cI learnt a lot about myself [on the show] and what I wanted in a relationship. I became stronger mentally. I learnt how to stand up for myself and believe in what I deserve in a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said being on a show such as <span>The Bachelor<\/span> is tough, not to mention mentally and emotionally draining. \u201cYou need to be strong and need to stand by who you are and what you believe in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen Kobus and I first got together, I knew he was the one for me. He was everything I had ever dreamed of in a man (and more). He makes me feel more loved and appreciated than I ever have before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her first impressions of Kobus were: \u201cWow he is dreamy and those eyes are mesmerizing\u201d. She describes him as loving, dreamy and her Prince Charming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She now owns her own travel company, TravelB, in which she devours her passions for travel, fashion, food and socialising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobus will see this beauty march down the isle in August later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobus says what he values more than anything in a relationship is honesty. \u201cIt\u2019s simple. We have been honest to each other since day one and if something is bugging either one of us \u2013 we discuss it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTrust, understanding and kindness,\u201d is what makes a relationship last, for Bridget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kobus believes 2022 will be their year \u2013 in which his fiance\u2019s motto is to never take anything in life for
