On Tuesday 3 May the Paarl Visitor Information Centre relocated to 1 Market Street in Paarl, but the move will be short-lived as Drakenstein Municipality will close the centre to move into the digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this year new developments were announced in the tourism marketing sector of Drakenstein Municipality when the municipality announced that the they will not renew their grant agreement with the Drakenstein Local Tourism Association (DLTA). According to the municipality they had to embark on a formal tender process to procure destination marketing services and the DLTA\u2019s tender came in at three times more than what was budgeted for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality decided that they will steer the tourism marketing in Drakenstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince February 2022, Drakenstein Municipality has been working closely with its partners in the tourism industry to get our strategy in place. The decision was therefore made to close the Wellington and Paarl Information Centres by the end of June 2022. The focus will henceforth be more on innovative ways to attract visitors and make tourism information available through the use of digital media,\u201d said Jacqui Samson, Executive Director: Planning, Development and Human Settlements at Drakenstein Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About the plans the municipality has in place to promote tourism in Drakenstein Samson said: \u201cWe are on track and are currently implementing our strategy to promote Drakenstein Municipality as a destination and focus on areas such as the wine industry, sports tourism, as well as arts and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until the end of June this year the Paarl Visitor Information Centre can be found on the ground floor of the municipal building in Market Street in Paarl, right next to the Paarl Library. The Paarl Visitor Information Centre will be open from Mondays to Fridays from 08:30 until 17:00 and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 until 13:00 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
