However, in areas closer to the city centre, such Rondebosch and Claremont, buyers can afford a one-bedroom apartment of roughly 50 m\u00b2 or less for around R1,5 million, while rent on a similar home is roughly R8 000 p\/m. This compared to annual house price appreciation which is currently sitting at roughly 4,46%, which means that you can sell the property for much more than you originally bought it for.
